apache upgrade

2006
11.27

I tell myself always don’t upgrade if you don’t have to :-) . I had to upgrade my apache server recently since apacche 1.3.3 would not work with NoMachine.

All my rewrite engine logic would not work with apache 2.2. I need to find alternative for the older commands.

What a waste of talents!!!!!!

We watched the movie yesterday. It started off well but then took a totally different direction. It seemed to us as tho there were 2 different writers for this movie.

Not recommended.

Broadband Service

2006
11.20

I like the concept of  getting internet access everywhere, where ever you need it. I recently subscribed to the Sprint Broadband service. I like it  cos I can access  internet while I travel on the train.

Not very happy with the speed tho’. Hopefully it will improve over time.

NFJS conference

2006
11.19

Just got back from the weekend conference. I attened some good sessions & some crappy sessions. I was very much impressed by Ruby & Groovy. I am going to get my feet wet with these 2 technologies for sure.

One of the interesting sessions was 3 technologies to watch.

1. Seaside

2. Erlang

3. metaprogramming frameworks

The mantra for all the speakers were Ruby, Agile, Spring…. You get the picture :-) . One of the sessions that I really enjoyed was from Jason Hunter (Yes the guy who wrote Servlets & was part of the Tomcat Development). He had a good session on the opensource. I would love to attend this next year.

mini project

2006
11.13

I got a AMD dual processor athalon machine with 2G ram from my company. They were giving away some old servers. I am now trying to setup couple more domains on my existing servers so that I can host some more websites. I am trying to get couple things going currently

1. Setup up automatic server backup.
2. Setup up automatic DB backup.

3. Setup virtual domains using one IP (don’t know if this is recommended)

4.  Setup wordpress for multiple users

5. setup gallery2 for multiple users.
